Stories Are Brain-Changers

A story affects the brain! The brain can be stimulated by a story and narrative can direct and shape your child’s future. One way that a story shapes a child is by allowing the brain to help the child become empathetic and generous. It also allows the child to feel a connection to the world around and expends the understanding of a bigger, wider, and greater world than he or she has so far been able to grasp. There are so many ways stories can shape us!

One of my favorite readings on how stories affect our brain and help to shape who we are is by Paul Zak. You might enjoy reading about what he reveals in the brain-shaping science behind a good story. https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_stories_change_brain

I am a mother to five extremely cool adults and grandmother to fourteen terrific, talented, and tremendous young people! Beyond my own children and grandchildren, God has blessed my life richly with a terrific family; parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A terrific church-family and a wonderful job working as the Director of our local Habitat For Humanity affiliate. We all miss my late husband, Ray who patterned out a rich life for his children to follow.
