Praying Mantis Trap!

While mindlessly walking along

I made a wrong turn

I tend to do that often

by now you’d think I’d learn.

Usually I can put

my hands together and pray.

This time though,

I was really in a bad way.

 I hit some crazy surface,

with holes through and through!

My legs poked right in

What was I to do?

Every move I made

an extremity got caught,

the more I wiggled

the more each leg got taut.

A praying mantis trap!

What else could it be?

This thing full of tiny holes

It certainly did trap me!

Then Mary came along

With a squirter and a rag,

I was sure it was the end

I was caught in her snag!

She seemed disinterested

Like I was in the way.

“Get out of here little guy

It’s window washing day!”

I couldn’t put my hands together

still my prayers were answered that day!

Now when I see Mary’s house

I go the other way!
